Nursing undergraduates of Hong Kong University experience the high-quality development of nursing care in Shanghai
From June 13 to 14, 2023, with the support from Office of Global Partnerships (Key Projects Development Fund), the School of Nursing of Fudan University led the nursing undergraduates of Hong Kong University(HKU)to carry out the theme activity of "Experience the new pension business and feel the happy pension concept".
On June 13th, in the first conference room of the School of Nursing of Fudan University, students from two schools exchanged views on the theme of "borderless aging without boundaries". Students shared the elderly care services in Shanghai and Hong Kong, community care and support for the elderly, and innovative services for the elderly. Students from both sides learned the social services with local characteristics for the elderly under different social backgrounds.
On June 14th, Vice dean Zhao Ying and students from HKU came to the Third Welfare Home for the Elderly in Xuhui District to organize activities. The activity was carried out in three aspects: interaction, discussion and exchange, and on-site observation, including making incense cards, chatting, doing health exercises and other activities.
After the incense making, the exchange team visited the nursing center of the welfare home under the guidance of Dean Wang Rongrong, and learned the practical experience and management mode of the nursing in the welfare home. At the end of the activity, theHKU students led the grandparents to do health exercises together, and ended the trip with laughter.
Through this activity, the exchange team had an in-depth understanding of the advanced concepts and practical experience of Hong Kong university in the field of geriatric care, and also shared the experience and achievements of our school and its affiliated hospitals and Shanghai welfare institutions. Through the interaction with the elderly, the students better understood their health needs and nursing requirements, which not only improved the ability of humanistic care, promoted the sense of social responsibility and mission, but also brought care and companionship to the elderly. The students communicated and learned from each other, which enhanced the friendship and promoted the development and progress of nursing education in two schools. We look forward to further exchanges and learning between the two sides in the future to jointly address the challenge of global aging!
