Sustained development, great opportunities and big challenges of nursing profession in China have been experienced in recent decades. Chinese nursing profession has been improved stably with the cultivation of nursing talents, higher degree program development, key clinical nursing specialties advancement, and continuing quality of care improvement. Chinese nursing is growing in line with WHO“Health Care for All”Goal and Chinese National “Healthy China 2030”Initiative. We realized that the integration of nursing education, nursing research, nursing practice as well as inter-disciplinary cooperation and international collaboration are vital to the development of nursing discipline in China.
School of Nursing, Fudan University has nearly 100 years of nursing education, with a high reputation in nursing education and nursing research. Embedded the mission of “building first-class nursing discipline and cultivating high-quality nursing talents”, we take “high virtue, lofty aspiration, exquisite service, strong dedication” as our school motto, and devote ourselves to training nursing talents who are “precise in inquiry, benevolent in life, and caring at work”.
Over the past decades, our school has made great efforts to advocate evidence-based nursing practice, promote knowledge translation and filling gap between knowledge and practice, and advocate fair, effective and scientific health care. With years of development, on the basis of deepening the reform of high nursing education model, several fields of research were firmly formed in our school, which focused on from infant to elderly life-cycle care based on the whole life cycle theory and evidence-based healthcare model, information technology and big data of nursing science, and advanced nursing practice.
We have a group of excellent faculty members who love nursing and devote themselves to nursing education and research. We have 8 top-level hospitals as affiliated hospitals which have high reputation in quality of treatment and nursing as practice bases. We have formed a close and mutually reinforcing team with the nursing departments of all affiliated hospitals, and established close teaching and research links. We have also developed close relationship with many national and international institutes of nursing education and nursing research. Through cooperation and exchanges, the academic vitality of our school has been enhanced and the level of nursing discipline has been improved rapidly.
